In
our world, 1.3 billion of us live on less than $1 a day. 1,000
of us die every hour from hunger, and 1 in 10 in developing
countries never live to celebrate our 5th birthday. |

Bread&Water
was founded in 1999 by a group of young professionals in the
New York City area who sought to use the means we had to turn these
numbers around. Today, we are a fast growing non-profit, providing
relief in a increasing number of countries around the world,
and still entirely run by volunteers. |

 |
Bread&Water
exists to give every person a chance to live. We are an independent,
non-profit organization whose vision is to equip those who are
in need with all that is necessary to live. We define these
basic necessities of life to be primary physical needs, skills
to make a sustainable living and seeds of hope to make that
life grow. |

Bread&Water
exists that compassion would never be bound by cost. Our primary
work is to gather resources to support humanitarian aid projects
run by those who carry out our vision in the field. Specifically,
we support the work of bringing to all who are in need food,
shelter, clothing, medicine, education, and the love of God,
who gave himself to all people as bread and water for our souls.
At the heart of this purpose is our on-line donation center
hosted at this site. Through this site, donors have the power
to designate their donations to the specific need of their choice.
A typical needs featured on our site would be: 'a pair of shoes
for an orphan' or '1 week of food for a flood victim.' This
'on-line shopping approach' to giving brings our donors to the
forefront of the causes they support. |

|
 |
Bread&Water
exists that each person's contribution would impact lives to
the fullest. With the exception of any bank or credit card fees
associated with the donation, 100% of every donation made through
Bread&Water goes towards the cause designated by the donor.
Bread&Water does not take a percentage out of donations to cover
administrative costs. Instead, we urge our donors to support
our running costs directly. While our running costs are significantly
reduced by the volunteers who give freely of their time and
resources to run this organization, our commitment to 100% is
not possible without donor support. |
